Altar Servers (back to top)
Girls and boys who are active in the worship service, may be trained as Altar Servers to assist the Priest at the altar. In doing so, they also assist the congregation. Servers must be at least 9 years old and must have been baptized and received First Eucharist. All Altar Servers will be required to attend training sessions.

The Eucharist is the heart and center of our Catholic faith. It is a celebration of our unity we have with each other and with the risen Christ. The Eucharist gives cause for the Catholic Church to gather around the Lord’s Table to remember and make present again the sacrifice of Jesus, who gave his life for us. As Eucharistic Ministers, one continues to develop ones faith and helps with the distribution of communion during all Masses. The schedule of Eucharistic Ministries asks for a commitment of 2-3 consecutive Masses, about every two months.

Home and care center visitation is the ministry of taking communion to the ill and aged who are no longer able to participate in the community Eucharist celebration. In bringing communion to them, the minister of communion represents Christ and manifests faith and charity on behalf of the whole community.
Greeters (back to top) The parish is a house of welcome, “a sign and instrument” of that hospitality to which the followers of Jesus are called. From the very beginning, St. Juan Diego Parish has made a great effort to welcome all those who come to Mass. This has created a very friendly atmosphere in which we worship. We are always looking for more people to serve as greeters.

This ministry provides an opportunity for the parish members to gather as a community and socialize after Mass. The Sunday Social consists of coffee, juice, and donuts. Parishioners are scheduled to help pick up fresh donuts before Mass.
Lectors (back to top)
Lectors are lay readers who proclaim the Word of the Lord at all the liturgical celebrations of the parish. Lectors are trained to develop the skills to proclaim the scriptures. This Ministry is open to all over 18 and confirmed Catholics who are registered at St. Juan Diego.
Liturgy Prep Committee (back to top)
The Liturgy Prep Committee meets monthly to assist the Pastor in all aspects of the liturgical life in the parish. They also work closely with all other ministries. “It goes beyond the Sunday Mass, it permeates all of parish life.
Liturgical Music Ministry (back to top)
Among the many signs and symbols used by the Church to celebrate its faith, music is of preeminent importance. Yet the function of music is ministerial: it must serve and never dominate. Music should assist the assembled believers to express and share the gift of faith that is within them and to nourish and strength their interior commitment of faith. St. Juan Diego Music Ministry consists of those individuals within our parish whom God has blessed with musical talent and the skill to use those talents to lead others in prayerful song. Practices are weekly on Tuesday nights at 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Mass Collection Counters (back to top)
A group of people counts the offering received in accordance with Archdiocesan rules as required. They also count coffee social and any special collections taken.
Newcomers / Welcoming Committee (back to top)
Welcoming, is not merely being warm and friendly. It is a fundamental attribute of the Christian community. The committee strives to make new members welcome and to foster a stronger sense of community at St. Juan Diego Parish. Jesus welcomed all people to the fullness of life. “Anyone who welcomes you, welcomes me and anyone who welcomes me, welcomes the One who sent me.” Mt. 10:40

The Parish Health Ministry goal is to develop and sustain health ministries within our faith community. This ministry emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention. Those who work, or have worked in health care are invited to participate.
Parents and Children Ministry (back to top)
The St. Juan Diego Church Parents and Children Ministry serves parishioners with children from newborn to four years old. We look to the needs of our youngest parishioners and their parents by providing opportunities to meet and in fellowship. The purpose of this ministry is to promote a more just society by meeting immediate and long-term needs of the local and global community. The mission statement is: “In accordance with the teaching of Jesus, to act as both a catalyst and a participant, and to collaborate with both local and national communities, we will affect short-term and long term solutions to build a just society that reflects the Kingdom of God.
