Children’s Liturgy of the Word    (back to top)

The Children’s Liturgy of the Word at St. Juan Diego provides an opportunity for children to experience a joyful simplified version of the Liturgy of the Word in a community environment. Children ages are 4+ years old through 10 years old are escorted from the main assembly to hear that Sunday’s readings and discuss them. Prayers including the Apostle’s Creed and the Prayers of the Faithful. Children are escorted back to the main assembly after the completion of the Prayers of the Faithful.

ABC (Age Based Catechesis)    (back to top)

We have faith formation classes for Preschool (age 4) through 8th grade. These classes provide children the opportunity to come together as part of the parish community to learn about Christ through scripture, music and activities. Classes are held immediately after Sunday Mass at PCC-Rock Creek from 11:00 – 12:15.  For a class schedule see link above. The younger grades have a music component from 11:00 – 11:15 with classroom instruction and activities from 11:15 – 12:15.  We are using the RCL Parish textbook series entitled Faith First, Legacy Edition. Each grade will be lead by a team of volunteer catechists.  Parents are viewed as the primary educators and are highly encourage to participate and help in the class rooms.  The classrooms are viewed as an extension of the parish community and we try to integrate the life of the parish community into the classrooms as much as possible.  Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is integrated into the second grade curriculum.  Contact Bridget Becker: bbecker@stjuandiego.org

Small Christian Communities    (back to top)

Based on the model of the earliest days of the Catholic Church, Small Christian Communities are gatherings of six to twelve people who meet consistently for the common purpose of applying gospel values to every aspect of their lives. This is accomplished using four components: Community - building bonds of trust and friendship through faith-sharing. Living Scripture - learning to live the Word in our daily lives. Liturgy and Prayer - expanding our comfort with prayer and other creative rituals. Seeking Justice - actively living our Christian faith by serving other. Joining a Small Christian Community is a gift you owe yourself to assist you on your faith journey.

Young Adults     (back to top)

Are you a married or single young adult yearning for a deeper relationship with God? Come join the St. Juan Diego Young Adult's group and take this spiritual journey with us!! We are committed to helping each other grow in faith through prayer and scripture, and sharing in the Eucharist through fellowship with one another and service to our fellow sisters and brothers in Christ. Youth Ministry    (back to top)

Our goal is to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today. Group meetings include large and small-group activities with emphasis on connecting our Catholic faith to the daily life of Youth. We use scripture, games, prayer, discussion, and a variety of Catholic topics to experience our faith while relating it to our lives.

Welcoming Catholics Home    (back to top)

We are called to invite everyone to be members of out Church. A large, unserved group of possible parishioners are inactive Catholics. Many of you know someone who “used to be Catholic”. This program is to welcome them home. They are provided with a safe harbor or landing to explore their faith and their future with the Catholic Church. It also provides returning Catholics with a supportive community within which they may ask questions, discuss issues, and deal with difficulties. “We can create a place where all can find his or her own soul.”
